The Chiefs and Youth of the Nandom Traditional Area have expressed gratitude and appreciation to the government for carving out a separate administrative district from the present Lawra District for the people of Nandom area. They described the initiative as a welcome news for the entire citizenry of Nandom, and a significant fulfillment of a long awaited-dream. This was contained in a press release signed by the president of the Nandom Youth Action Group (NYAG), Balog Livinus and issued in Wa. The release stated that it is the conviction of the Chiefs and Youth of the Nandom that the creation of Nandom as a district will not only accelerate the pace of socio-cultural growth and development of the area, but more importantly it will open a new window for the establishment and nurturing of a dynamic local political economy to the benefit of the District in particular and the country as a whole. The chiefs and youth of the Nandom traditional area therefore called on all well-meaning Ghanaians, especially citizens of Nandom resident in Ghana and abroad to come home and invest in the numerous human and natural resources of the area as well as take advantage of other business avenues that accompany the creation of the District. They further called on all stakeholders, both within and outside the area, to eschew any untoward acts that would impede the smooth and orderly processes towards the successful take-off of the new district. The statement entreated all and sundry in the area to note that the announcement of a new district for the area alone will not necessarily translate in to the desired well-being of the society. Rather the people must be supported by the strengthening of the internal spirit and cohesion of the Nandom people, and above all a high sense of patriotism to ensure judicious use of available resources to facilitate efforts towards enhancing the quality of life of the people.
