The General Secretary of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union, Mr. Napoleon Kpoh has been removed after 19 years in office.
The National Executive of the ICU staged a silent coup to oust the Union's General Secretary in a move Mr. Kpoh says is unconstitutional.
He has however been given up to the 11th of August to vacate the position.
The decision was taken at an Executive Council meeting in Accra.
According to executives of the Union, though the term of the current leadership expires next month, they have so far failed to organize a congress, which was expected to elect new executives.
When reached for his comment, Mr. Kpoh only said "the meeting did something unconstitutional and the chairman had to adjourn the meeting."
But Mr. Solomon Kotei, Deputy General Secretary in charge of administration told Joy News the comments by the embattled ICU General Secretary could only be decided in court.
