The Ministry of Health (MoH) has inaugurated a new governing board and Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) for the National Ambulance Service at their conference room in Accra.
Their call is to use their skills and expertise to propel the service to greater and better heights. The 13-member board is the second to be constituted for the Service since its establishment.
Speaking at the event, Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, expressed his hope that the Board would provide support to the Management of NAS.
“It is my fervent hope that the Board would provide all the necessary support to the Management of NAS to work together efficiently and effectively to improve the emergency care services in the country,” he said.
In an acceptance speech read on behalf of the staff by the appointed CEO, he accepted and expressed his appreciation for the appointments.
He further thanked President John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for Health for the confidence reposed in them as members to serve on the Governing Board of the NAS.
The National Ambulance Service's main objective is to save lives and ensure quality care for patients in the pre-hospital care system.
The service expanded from just seven stations in three regions at its inception in 2004 to 297 stations across the country, covering all 275 constituencies at the end of 2020 under the leadership of Dr Ahmed Nuhu Zakariah.
