Operatives of National security on Sunday stormed the home of the Managing Editor of the Gye Nyame Concord, ostensibly in search of a missing dog.
Alfred Ogbamey who revealed this on Asempa FM’s current affairs programme, Ekosii Sen on Tuesday said a team of national security officers, land guards from Chorkor and a staff of Radio Gold stormed his house on Sunday January 30 around midday with the explanation that they were looking for a dog they suspect he had stolen.
He says, a staff of Radio Gold who gave his name as Edward Anti Ofori (a.k.a Lion Jafi) of National Security, attached to Radio Gold led the team to retrieve the dog.
Mr. Ogbamey told Asempa News he had no idea why the security operatives stormed his house but explained that an NPP turned NDC Contractor, one Mr. Turkson whose ‘Neapolitan Mastiff breed dog’ was stolen, suspects that an NDC foot soldier known only as Ebo might have stolen it and given the dog to him (Ogbamey) because he is also a breeder.
He said his house including his bedroom were searched and had to call in the Anyaa Police to restore order. Mr. Ogbame says he reported the case at the Anyaa Police and Mamprobi respectively.
The Managing Editor of the Gye Nyame Concord expressed shock over the incident. He however says he does not believe the National Security Coordinator Lt. Col. Larry Gbevlo Lartey was aware of Sunday’s operation.
Meanwhile, News Editor of Radio Gold Roland Acqua Stevens has denied that Radio Gold is guarded by National Security operatives but confirms Edward Anti Ofori is a staff of the radio station.
Corporal Abednego of the Anyaa Police station also confirmed the incident to Asempa News and said they were on patrol on Sunday mid-morning when they got an emergency call to go and avert a possible clash between Mr Alfred Ogbame and supposed officers of National Security and says the matter is still under investigation.
