Public interest advocate and member of the Alliance for Revolutionary Change, Rodaline Imoru Ayarna has said that Ghana has lost nationalism and patriotism.
According to her, the current crop of political enthusiasts is engaged in partisan politics, thereby failing to serve the citizens as required and causing division.
“Nationalism is lost on this country; patriotism is lost on this country. We’re having partisan politics go ahead of the nation Ghana so much that everything we’re doing in this country is because of my party. I belong to this party; my party has this manifesto and that’s where I’m going to go,” she said on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning.
It is for this reason that the Alliance for Revolutionary Change movement decided to rally their support behind the Movement for Change flagbearer, Alan Kyerematen to win the elections.
The team believes that Alan Kyeramaten is the perfect candidate to change Ghana’s economic crisis after reviewing his vision and policies.
Despite the flagbearer’s comments on religion which he was criticized a few months ago, the ARC is assured that Alan is not a partisan leader because he listened to their advice and has desisted from approaching that route. She claimed Alan was misinterpreted.
The public interest advocate noted emphatically that it is a dangerous path for any politician to tread and it must be condemned.
“He was making a statement. He particularly said a Christ-like person. What are the attributes?”Â
She added that Mr Kyerematen parted ways with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to help his country on a different path and not to hurt the party, as most people perceived.
Mrs. Ayarna opined that it would not be advisable for flagbearer aspirants to be promoting ethnic, religious, or regional politics ahead of the upcoming elections. She added that they should encourage cohesion and unite the populace so as to be able to support each other.
She said Ghana is currently experiencing a politics of vindictiveness, which usually emanates from the party executives and not the leaders.
