In its bid to avert runway accidents, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority plans to establish a Performance Based Navigation (PBN) procedure for all airports in the country. This will see the installation of some satellites that will aid landing efforts at the airports.
According to Director General of the authority, Air Commodore (Rtd) Kwame Mamphey, a South African company has been engaged to undertake the project expected to be fully operational by the first quarter of next year.“We have signed the agreement already and we believe it would be completed by the end of the first quarter of next year. This would improve navigation around the country and also into our airfields as sometimes approach flights have had to be cancelled” he said.
