The Navy Command has intensified patrols to clamp down on fishermen found perpetrating light fishing, a banned practice.
Some fishermen threatened mayhem if the Fisheries Act which outlawed the practice of light fishing was not totally enforced.
They accuse some of their colleagues being adamant to break from the practice.
Some of the fishermen began arming themselves to attack those who were flouting the law.
As part of efforts to fight the practice, the Navy Command is procuring logistics to facilitate the enforcement of the law.
Col Mbawine Attintande, Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Armed Forces told Joy News his outfit had intensified patrols along the country's coast to ensure strict adherence of the ban.
According to him, some offenders have so far been arrested and handed over to the police for prosecution.
He said the next three weeks will be crucial as the Navy increases patrols on the seas.
