The Ghana FA Normalisation Committee have dismissed Asante Kotoko’s petition of a two-legged tie for their Special Cup tier 1 semi-final clash against Hearts of Oak.
The NC, in a statement, insists the match will be a one-off and will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium, the home of Hearts of Oak.
Kotoko wanted a two-legged tie with reference on the competition’s old regulation, released on 7 February 2019. Article 11(5) states that the four teams (that qualify from the group) shall engage in double-legged semi-finals and two winners shall qualify for the finals.
Kotoko also suggested a neutral grounds for the match so the two teams can share the gate proceeds.
The NC’s dismissal is on the grounds of the new regulations released on 22 March 2019. According to article 12(5), the semi-final matches will be one-off with the team that finishes top of its group playing at home.
Kotoko, on Monday, said they had not been furnished with the new format.
But NC says “it communicated the revised competition details to Kotoko.”
Below is GFA NC statement

The semi-final games have been set for June 15 and 16 with Kotoko travelling to Accra to face Hearts while AshantiGold take on Karela United in Obuasi.
The winners will face off in the final on June 23.
The champions will represent Ghana at next season’s CAF Champions League.
