Mr Kwame Baah-Acheamfuor, an official of the National Communications Authority has been appointed the Chairman of the Study Group on Quality of Service for the next four years (2013 to 2016) at the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). This is according to a statement issued Sunday. Below is the full statement INTERNATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS UNION APPOINTS KWAME BAAH-ACHEAMFUOR AS THE CHAIRMAN ON THE STUDY GROUP ON QUALITY OF SERVICE FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS The World Telecommunications Standardization Assembly (WTSA) has appointed Mr. Kwame Baah-Acheamfuor as the Chairman of the Study Group on Quality of Service for the next four years (2013 to 2016) at the International Telecommunications Union. Until this appointment, Mr. Kwame Baah-Acheamfuor of the National Communications Authority has been the Chairman of the African Study Group on Quality of Service for the last two years. Kwame will now lead the studies on Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) of telecommunications terminals, networks and services. The WTSA also expanded the mandate of the Study Group to be the lead study on driver distraction and voice aspects of car communications. Kwame takes up the challenge of leading the standardization on the planning and operations aspects of telecom which would offer better service quality and user experience. Also, he will count on his experts to develop standards which when implemented could influence the reversal on the ban of voice communications when driving. The WTSA 2012 which is held every four years ended in Dubai on Thursday, 29th December, 2012 was attended by over 1000 delegates from close to 120 countries from all over the world. Kwame Baah-Acheamfuor becomes the first African to lead a Study Group on Standardization at the International Telecommunications Union. At the same Assembly, Mr. Isaac Boateng also of the NCA was appointed the Vice Chair of the Study Group on Signalling Requirements and Protocols.
