Former Youth Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Karbo has called on the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to urgently partner political actors to prepare the minds of Ghanaians, on the outcome of the election petition.
The NCCE has been holding fora in some regions on the need for Ghanaians to respect the Court’s final ruling.
But Mr Karbo told Joy News it is not enough for the Commission to embark on the exercise alone, instead it must involve stakeholders like the political parties, churches and young people directly to achieve its aim.
Mr Karbo said he is sure every political actor would be willing to assist the Commission to embark on any activity that would calm the “apprehension” among Ghanaians with regard the election petition hearing.
The National Commission for Civic Education is an independent, non-partisan governance institution, set up under Article 231 of the Constitution.
The NCCE is mandated to create awareness and educate Ghanaians on the significance of the constitution, strengthen constitutional democracy and the awareness of civic rights and responsibilities in Ghana.
