The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), will on Monday, hold a forum to assess the 2016 manifesto of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The purpose of this exercise, the party says, is to compare the “numerous lofty promises” President Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP made to Ghanaians and the delivery of same.
“The presentation, which will take place during the third edition of the NDC’s Weekly Press Briefing, will take place at Alisa Hotel, North Ridge, Accra, at 1pm,” the NDC wrote in a statement on Saturday.
The NDC’s weekly briefing
The biggest opposition party, as part of its campaign in the lead up to the December general elections, launched a weekly press briefing on Monday, June 1.
The party in that briefing denounced the government’s easing of restrictions aimed at containing spread of the novel coronavirus.
The NDC accused President Akufo-Addo of seeking political capital from the move at the expense of public safety.
In the second briefing last week, the party launched what it called corruption tracker which it says will, as time goes, discuss “corrupt” acts from members of the administration.
The NPP manifesto
The NDC has in time past accused the government of haphazardly implementing flagship polices like the One Village One Dam in the northern part of the country.
The NDC says contrary to the promises made, the government is simply creating dugouts in the name of irrigation dams.
Also, the NDC is a major critic of the Free SHS policy.
Members of the party, including Presidential nominee, John Mahama have faulted the policy’s implementation.
Mr. Mahama, who is seeking a return to power, has promised to cancel the Double Track policy which the government introduced to check overcrowding which came with the spike in enrollment after the scrap of school fees.
This, he said would be done by providing the necessary infrastructure.
The NDC has also criticised the One District One Factory policy, arguing the government lied to the people on its implementation.
