The National Democratic Congress (NDC) chairman for the Fanteakwa constituency in the Eastern Region has been remanded in prison custody over allegations of murder. Christopher Narh is accused of masterminding the murder of the wife of the chief of Dedeserako, a village near Fanteakwa. The chief, Osabarima Bosompim Ayirepa II, said his wife was hacked to death in the palace on Easter Saturday by an indigene identified as Isaac Teye. The chief who claimed there had been previous attempts on his life told Joy News he is certain he was the main target. Police in the region tell Joy News the NDC chairman and two others were arraigned before the Koforidua High Court on Wednesday in connection with the murder charges. The Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander, ACP Dwamena Yeboah, said one of the suspects has admitted to committing the crime. The suspect, whose name was not given, decided to pursue that endeavour after getting wind of the deceased’s attempt to kill him. According to the suspect, he had heard rumours that the chief’s wife had contracted someone to murder him and send his head to her.
