The chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Kwabena Adjei, has asked the media to support his campaign for re-election during congress in January.Dr. Adjei, at a well-attended media interaction in Accra on Friday night, made known his intention to seek re-election.He wants the media to join his campaign promising to strike a cordial relationship between the party and the media.“I can’t hide it; I want to launch my campaign and this is a pre-launch event,” he told journalists at the press conference.Dr Adjei promised a healthier interaction between the party and the media to promote development.“…and from next year, when we come back as national executive members, we’ll make sure that we interact with the press at a level that will be healthier for the development of this country, and I promise you” he declared.The latest to also make public his intention to run for the vice chairmanship slot of the party is the coordinator for the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr. Kofi Portuphy, who tells Joy News the party needs a person with good organizational skills.“Having worked for the party all these years, it’s time for me to hold a position from which I could direct my experience to improve the gains for the party and for the mobilization of all the democratic forces within the party,” he stressed.Mr. Portuphy’s declaration brings to five the number of persons vying for the vice chairmanship slot.Other party members including Squadron Leader Clend Sowu, Dr. Ekow Spio-Gabrah, former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings and one captain Buta are all up for the keenly contested post.
