Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, 40, a Building Consultant, on Saturday beat three others to pick up the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ho-West candidature for the 2008 parliamentary elections.
He polled 155 votes, while Mrs Dzifa Attivor, an ex-worker of the Bank of Ghana (BOG) and currently a business woman got 42 votes.
The other two contenders, Professor Vincent Kwadzo Nartey, Chemistry Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Legon, got 40 and Samuel Ewoade, an Agro-Chemist, 23.
The primaries held at Tsito, was supervised by Mr Robert Atamah, Ho Municipal Director of the Electoral Commission (EC).
Mr Francis Ganyaglo, NDC Volta Regional Secretary told the GNA that the Ho-West and South-Tongu constituency primaries were being held ahead of others in the Region because Mr Francis Agbotse and Mr Kenneth Dzirasah, incumbent members of Parliament of the two constituencies had declined running for another term.
Mr Agbotse said deciding not to contest the primaries "was not a hard one to take" after 12 years of a meritorious service to his people.
Mr Agbotse, who listed numerous development projects he had initiated and completed including school blocks and water for the Abutia communities, pledged to be around to support the new candidate and the party to victory.
Mr Bedzrah, with the defeated three candidates around him, said his victory was only the beginning of the real battle of overwhelming the ruling NPP in the coming elections.
Mr Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, NDC Deputy General Secretary, Operations urged party supporters to be vigilant during the coming registration exercise to ensure no tricks were played to disenfranchise them.Source: GNA
