National Democratic Congress' executives in the Kwabre East District in the Ashanti Region, have condemned moves by a youth to kick against the re-nomination of the incumbent District Chief Executive. The group, calling itself Coalition of NDC Youth Groups in Kwabre East on Tuesday clashed with supporters of Adams Iddisah, the incumbent DCE, when the former presented a petition to the Regional Minister against the re-nomination.But all the executives at a news conference denounced the group, accusing it of championing an individual’s parochial interest. They say Mr. Iddisah deserves commendation, not condemnation for contributing immensely to the development of the district. They vowed to bring to book any member who will subvert the interest of the people.Deputy Constituency Secretary, Abdul-Bassit Abdulai told the news conference though every Ghanaian has the right to demonstrate, activities of the group was illegal.“Until Tuesday’s event where a group of people came referring to themselves as Coalition of NDC Youth Groups in Kwabre East, we have never known any such group; and I to say without any fear of contradiction that there is no such group here,” he emphasized.Mr. Addul-Bassit added, the executives were surprised at the action of the group calling for the removal of the District Chief Executive.“All the constituency executives are in support of the re-nomination of Adams Iddisah by His Excellency the President”.The constituency executives warned members of the party to desist from such untoward behavior which has the tendency to bring the party into public ridicule.“The advice we wish to offer this particular group and such groups is not to allow themselves to be used by self-seeking, desperate and power-hungry politicians.Meanwhile, the executives have promised to ensure smooth confirmation of the DCE-nominee, Adams Iddisah.
