The Member of Parliament for Nkwanta North in the Volta Region, Mr. Joseph Nayan says the ruling National Democratic Congress has “woefully failed” the people of the region since it assumed office three years ago. Mr. Nayan said road network in the region is bad, the economic hardship in the region continue to deteriorate and schools remain under trees, “contrary to what the government keeps boasting about on daily basis”, adding that what makes the situation worse is the controversial "Woyome Saga". The Nkwanta North MP said his assessment of the performance of the Mills administration in the region is shared by a vast majority of people in the area, including chiefs. Mr. Joseph Nayan, who was campaigning to retain the only seat the NPP has in the region for the third consecutive time, said there is no way that seat can be snatched from the opposition by the ruling government. He told Adom News the Kuffour administration performed much better by way of providing development projects in the region than the NDC administration. He chided the Mills administration for claiming credit for the proposed Eastern Corridor roads, stating: “the Kuffour administration initiated the project and sourced for funding from the European Union but this was terminated (by the Mills administration) and three years on nothing has been done”. He is confident the opposition NPP will another seat in the Volta Region this year. Mr. Nayan enumerated some of his development projects in the constituency, including the provision of potable drinking water, feeder roads and educational infrastructure. He expressed the hope the Volta Region will soon cease to be the “world bank” for the NDC and vote massively for the NPP.
