The Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, Ben Ephson, has called on the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), including the new Minority leadership, to apologise to those removed.
This, according to him, will help the party reunite and remain focused in its preparations for the 2024 election.
The editor believes the previous leadership (Haruna Iddrisu, Muntaka Mubarak, and James Klutse Avedzi) are unhappy not because of their removal but due to the approach used.
"People are mixing issues that they are against being removed. No, it is the manner in which it was done. The earlier they swallow their pride and acknowledge that they’ve messed up for the party to move on, the better it will be for the future of the party," he said to Roselyn Felli on Prime Morning on Friday.
He thinks the ousted leaders could have been consulted, just as they have always done with previous leaders. He said, "It is disrespectful."
Ben Ephson is also of the view that it will be a worse option for the leadership to change their decision as other executives of the party are demanding.
Although the leadership needed to exhibit their powers, he believes they could have been mindful and involved other party members.
The editor also believes that the only way to settle their disputes is to "eat humble pie, apologise and move on."
Meanwhile, he has urged the leadership to ensure that their differences are resolved during their scheduled meeting on Tuesday.
He is hopeful that the Council of Elders will ensure that things are done rightly after the meeting.
