The Old Guards Association of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), has appealed to members of the party to desist from acts that could adversely affect its fortunes in election 2012.
It said it found it disheartening that some members of the party, founded on the principles of probity and accountability, "have thrown caution to the wind and are grabbing with all four limbs, any advantage within their reach".
This is contained in a statement signed by Oheneba Asamoah Atuahene, National Chairman, in Kumasi on Wednesday.
"We must eschew petty bickering, needless in-fighting, vicious and debilitating criticism, dishonesty and graft", it said.
The statement said the declaration of 2011 by President Mills' "as a year of action" is a clarion call on both the leadership of the party and government to be up and doing, adding that, the third year "completes the triangular symbol that has characterized the party's struggle for and attainment of political power.
"In 2011, we can only succeed if we consciously and conscientiously put our collective efforts together in line with the party's greater objectives, which are social justice for all, human resource development, better health and accommodation, infrastructural growth and creation of sustainable industrial base for our nation".
The statement said it was time party members lived up to expectation and worked aggressively towards the achievement of the "Better Ghana Agenda."
It called for greater unity among the members and said they need to work in concert to win the 2012 general elections.Source: GNA
