The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be 20 years in June. A statement issued by the NDC failed to mention the role of the founder in formation of the party further casting doubts whether Mr Rawlings will join the celebrations. The statement which was signed by the General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the formation of the party was conceived with a vision – to promote the unity of the country; build on the various facets of anchoring the nation’s stability which was secured by the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), the progenitor to the NDC; and above all to provide the needed development by placing Ghanaians at the centre of every action of leadership. The statement further added that the NDC since its formation 20 years ago has “strived by and large on the backs of volunteers who are driven by the spirit of nationalism and patriotism to make Ghana a better place worth living”.According to the statement, “there are many patriots within the party who have devoted their energies and lives even at the neglect of their social and economic development”.This year’s celebration is under the theme: two decades of unity, stability and development. The following activities have been lined up to mark the occasion:June 8, 2012 – Muslim prayers
June 8, 2012 - Fund raising dinner dance
