The UK and Ireland branch of the ruling National Democratic Congress, (NDC) has rubbished claims by Ernest Owusu Bempa Bonsu, the Operations Director of Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (FONKAR) that he (Mr Bempa Bonsu) is a member of the branch.
The Chairman of the UK/Ireland branch of the NDC, Horace Nii Ankrah who refuted the claim said he would teach Owusu Bempah a lesson if he continues his constant denigration of President J.E.A. Mills.
Ernest Owusu Bempah who claimed to be a member of the NDC UK/Ireland branch revealed that, he led a team of investors to contribute 40,000 dollars towards NDC’s campaign in 2008.
He said this in an interview with Adom FM's Dwaso Nsem host Adakabre Frimpong Manso.
According to Owusu Bempah, he was a media strategist for the Atta Mills campaign team in the 2008 elections and had constant interactions with then candidate Mills on ways to improve the campaign strategies to ensure victory for the party.
The Operations Director of FONKAR added that, the hullabaloo about his membership in the ruling party is just a ploy by some elements within the NDC to silence and stifle FONKAR’s agenda to make the former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the leader of the NDC.
Owusu Bempah however accused the Get Atta Mills Endorsed campaign team (GAME) and some National Executives of the NDC of spearheading such agenda.
But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, Horace Nii Ankrah said no member of the UK/Irelands branch would conduct himself like Owusu Bempah who is on an agenda to bring disunity into the party.
“I am very happy to say that this individual is not a member of the NDC UK/Ireland chapter. It is a chapter made up of people with dignity” he added.
Quoting article 38 (10) of the party’s Constitution which states that members should always ensure the unity and cohesion of the party at all times, Mr Ankrah observed that, Owusu Bempah if indeed a member, should make the unity of the party his priority.
The UK and Ireland branch Chairman stated that the NDC had gone through a lot of struggles and should not allow young men like Owusu Bempah to let all that hard work be in vain.
“We believe in numbers as a political party but it is not every number that the party believes in. We believe in people who would come into the party and take seriously article 38 (10) at all times. We are not interested in what this guy (Owusu Bempah) stands for” he stressed.
He advised Mrs. Rawlings to expel Owusu Bempah from her campaign team if she has the ambition to lead the party in future.
