The National Executive Committee of National Democratic Congress (NDC) has started vetting of candidates who filed their nominations to contest on the party's ticket for the 2008 parliamentary elections in the Eastern Region.
It had approved all the candidates who filed their nominations to contest the primaries in Asuogyaman, Abirem, Suhum and Upper West Akim constituencies.
Mr Johnson Asiedu-Nketia, National Secretary of the party, speaking at the vetting in Koforidua, advised constituency executives of the party to ensure that they provided equal opportunity for all the candidates.
He advised candidates who might lost the primaries to accept the results in good faith and demonstrate commitment to the party by supporting the campaign of the party's candidate to ensure NDC won both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections in their constituencies.
Mr Asiedu-Nketia said intelligence report received indicated that, some opponents of the party were waiting to entice those candidates who would not win the primaries to contest for them.
He noted that the chances of the party to win the 2008 elections were bright and urged all supporters and sympathizers of the party to work hard to enable it to form the next government in 2009.
