An NDC youth group, Ghana Youth for Good Governance has chastised former president Rawlings and Majority leader in Parliament, Hon. Alban Bagbin for openly criticising the president, John Atta Mills in the media rather than resolving the issues internally. The group said the former president and the majority leader could have used internal party structures or better still gone to the president since they have access to him to let out their grievances than to run to the media all the time. Former President Rawlings recently took on the government for what he said was the lack of a listening ear for party footsoldiers claiming to have been ignored since the party came to power, a comment Alban Bagbin supported. A another issue the former president was not happy about was the president’s failure to allocate enough funds to the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) that was established to facilitate the development of the Northern Region. Alban Bagbin also faulted the president’s directive to his ministers and appointees to open their doors and give a listening ear to the party’s foot soldiers who call on them for help. A spokesperson for the youth group, Abdul Razak in an interview with Citi News said, “I strongly believe that these two personalities are very close to the government and the party and they going to the press is not the solution to solving the problems. I believe the former president has access to the presidency and so do I believe that Alban Bagbin who also sits in cabinet meetings also has access to the president.” He urged them to resort to the use of internal machinery than to go to media. “Instead of them going to the press, these channels are open to them. They should rather use these channels and that saves the party. We the youth are the future leaders and when we see some of these things happening, we get worried. The solution to this is the use of internal party structures.
