National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer hopeful, Kojo Bonsu, is taking his campaign tour to the Western Region starting Tuesday, October 23 to interact with regional and constituency executives there.

The former Managing Director of Ghana Oil Limited (GOIL) who says he is the best candidate to lead the NDC to wrestle power from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020 presidential election, has stepped on the gear following a successful campaign tour of the Central Region.

Mr. Bonsu begins his three-day tour at Wassa East and Shama Tuesday morning with a meeting of controlling bodies of the constituencies. He will follow with a meeting with regional chiefs of the opposition party, then go on to sell his message to the members in the Sekondi, Esikado Ketan, Effia, Kwesimintsim and Takoradi constituencies.

On Wednesday, he is scheduled to hold separate discussions with the leadership of the party in the Mporhor, Jomoro, Ellembele, Tarkwa Nsuaem, Evalue Ajomoro Gwira and Ahanta West constituencies.

Kojo Bonsu will end the tour on Thursday, Prestea Huni Valley and Ahanta East.

Peace in KNUST

Meanwhile, the former Kumasi Mayor, is urging peace and unity to prevail in the impasse between students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the school authorities.

The University has been closed down indefinitely, following violent protests, Monday. The decision was taken after a meeting between school authorities and the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC).

“I am deeply saddened with the turn of events that have resulted in the destruction of property and injury of students,” Mr. Bonsu noted in a stamen issued Monday.

He wants the parties involved to use the acceptable processes to address the grievances and to respond to their concerns.

The statement further called on President Nana Akufo-Addo to intervene as soon as possible to prevent any further destruction and brutality at the University and its environs.

“As a former Mayor of Kumasi and a concerned citizen, I strongly believe and advocate a peaceful resolution,” the release said.
