The National Democratic Party (NDP) is scheduled to hold its maiden National Congress in Kumasi in Ashanti Region on Saturday October 13.
The party said it was convinced that the political character and behaviour of Ghanaian politics must change so that every citizen becomes a direct beneficiary of the vast resources of the nation.
A press release signed by Dr Hilarius Abiwu, from the Office of the party and copied to the Ghana News Agency said intelligence gathered so far indicate that feverish efforts are being made to infiltrate their party rank and file with paid imposters.
The release alerted the media and the public that any information or statement purporting to come from the NDP must come from the Communications Director, General Secretary and Chairman.
It said nothing would deter the party from pursuing the mandate and that its goal is to abide by principles that would give Ghanaians what they deserve.
“We are also reliably informed that some macho boys have been recruited to physically attack and disrupt the congress in Kumasi. Some of these boys will be made to wear NDP T-shirts and behave in ways that will bring to question the reputation of the party.
“We are hereby alerting the police and the general public to dissociate these characters from the true NDP troops. Ours is a peaceful, accountable, transparent and disciplined party that believes in social justice for all,” the release added.
