Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, flag-bearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has cautioned the two major political parties not to be deceived by opinion polls and surveys that seem to put them ahead in the upcoming general elections.
He said the socio-economic conditions that prevail in the country currently suggest otherwise.
Speaking to the press in Kumasi, Dr Nduom said the citizens were yearning for a change of government after both parties had thrown the country into untold hardships and poverty due to the mismanagement of the economy.
His spoke to the press after he presented a paper on his party’s vision on rural development at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Dr Nduom said his countrywide tour had given him the confidence that the CPP was gaining grounds especially among the youth in the rural areas.
“Wherever we go the electorate are yearning for the come-back of the CPP as they had been disappointed by the two political parties with unfulfilled promises”, he noted.
He called on supporters and sympathizers of the party to bury their differences and rally behind the CPP’s to regain power and save the suffering masses through prudent economic policies and programmes for better living conditions.
Dr Nduom condemned in no uncertain terms the recent violence and vandalism that had characterized the ongoing voters’ registration exercise and blamed the NPP and the NDC for these developments as they had been “overly aggressive”.
He cautioned supporters of the two parties to exercise restraint to ensure the successful completion of the registration exercise.
Dr Nduom urged the youth to vote massively for the CPP since it had good plans and programmes. He described the party as the only alternative party that could salvage the country from its present socio-economic predicaments.
