Richmond Keelson, Spokesperson for Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, says the flagbearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has grown bigger than the party and that leaving the CPP will not affect his political fortunes.According to him, if Dr. Nduom is sacked from the CPP as was being contemplated by the party's chairperson, Samia Nkrumah, he will contest the 2012 presidential elections as independent candidate.Richmond Keelson said this on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem in reaction to a statement made by the Chairperson of the CPP, Samia Nkrumah that Dr. Nduom could be expelled from the party for causing division in the CPP.The National Executive Committee of the CPP is meeting on Tuesday to decide on what punishment to mete out to the party’s 2008 flagbearer, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom.Dr Nduom has been accused of pushing some groups within the party to demand an early congress. The National Chairperson Samia Nkrumah said she could no longer tolerate acts of indiscipline by the 2008 flagbearer.Richmond Keelson argued that Dr. Nduom has done nothing to warrant Samia’s insult on him.He blamed the CPP delegates who did not see substance in other candidates vying for chairmanship but voted for Samia Nkrumah."I don’t blame Samia, I blame the CPP delegates who did not see substance in other candidates, but dwelt in the nostalgic and romantic instincts of Dr. Nkrumah’s daughter and voted for her," Richmond Keelson said.He said the party delegates based on a fairytale of Dr. Nkrumah’s achievement voted Samia into power and the party has regretted taking this decision.Meanwhile, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman for the CPP, Nana Boadi has announced his decision to resign from the party based on the current happenings in the CPP.He hinted that by the close of the day he will present his resignation letter. In a related development, Managing Editor for the New Crusading Guide newspaper Kwaku Baako Junior said it is regrettable for a party like CPP to take a central decision based on assumptions and rumours.Kwaku Baako Jnr said it is sad that the CPP has decided to wash their dirty linen in the open. He therefore advised the Central Committee of the party to resolve the internal wrangling than to resort to solving their issues on the airwaves. However, one of the sons of Dr. Nkrumah, Dr. Sekou Nkrumah seems to sympathize with Dr. Nduom over his sister’s action. He intimated that Samia was wrong in attacking big wigs in the CPP like Dr. Nduom who have helped the party for many years and advised her to rethink her decision to contest the 2016 presidential elections.
