Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, Presidential candidate of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) says he felt threatened by the presence of armed security officials at his house in 1996, and the Americans showed concern for him.
“As a Ghanaian citizen who has maintained his citizenship all over the years even when living in America, that of all the places I went in Ghana to seek help, it was only the US Embassy that would call me every night and morning to ask if I was there or not.” He said.
He said the armed men came to his house in the night three times and he didn't know why they were there.
Dr. Nduom said the presence of the security men in his house put him in physical danger. He said they were in military and police uniforms and were using military and police vehicles. He said this in response to the suggestion that these men could be armed robbers. This incident he said happened in 1996
Dr. Nduom was speaking to Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, host of Joy FM’s Super Morning Show Wednesday June 25, 2008. Dr. Nduom appeared on the show to respond to allegations made against him regarding a report on his conduct by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO).
He said he went to people in government to ask for an explanation and no one has given him an explanation to date.
Dr. Nduom denied any wrong doing and said the issue regarding the SFO report has been settled and must be put rest.
