The Asawasi Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at its delegates' congress in Kumasi, elected Alhaji Ahmed Abubakar as its new chairman.
Other officers elected at the polls supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC), were Mr Joseph Bourle Salifu, Secretary, Baba Mohammed, Organiser, Alhaji Abdulai Anyars, Treasurer, Yussif Amuda, Youth Organiser and Hajia Hajara Lucky, Women's Organiser.
Mr Alex Sawyerr Attivor, Ashanti Regional NDC second Vice-Chairman, called on the new officers to work hard to broaden the base of the party at the grassroots.
He said as an NDC stronghold in the region, it was important that the executives adequately informed party members in Asawasi about government's policies and programmes.
Mr Salifu pledged that that new officers would assiduously to unite NDC members and discourage them from acts that could affect the development of the party.
