Health Authorities are moving fast to help Ghana meet the millennium development goal of halving HIV prevalence by 2015.
To this end, they have repackaged the female condom to attract women to use and take control of what goes on in the bedroom.
At the launch of the female condom conference by the Society of Women and AIDS in Africa, President of the Society, Nancy Ansah said new user friendly female condoms will soon hit the market.
“The female condoms on the market are what we call the FC2. It is an improvement on the FC1. The FC2 is very comfortable. It is not bulky.
“The reproductive health organ of the woman is not little; it is not slim. If we were able to give birth through that, then you know that it has some space to accommodate.
“The size is also made to accommodate any size of penis,” she said.
But some Ghanaian women who spoke to Joy News expressed mixed reactions to the use of female condoms.
