The Savannah Accelerated Authority (SADA) under its new management is bent on unrolling the misfortune that characterised the Authority some years ago.
Joy News has learnt through the leadership of the current Chief Executive Officer, Charles Abugre, SADA is impacting positively the lives of residents of the Mamprugu Moaduri District of the Northern Region.
The Authority in 2013 was embroiled in financial mismanagement and misappropriation which were traced to its handling of contracts. Most of its projects, aimed at improving the lives of the three Regions of the North, suffered.
A typical example was the Authority’s over GH₵32 million tree planting exercise contract with Asongtaba Cottage Industries (ACI), a project which was to address the deforestation of the Northern, Upper East, and Upper West Regions, saw the trees withering off.
As a result, when President Mahama announced an interim team in 2014 to take over the rein of the Authority, many predicted nothing will change regarding its activities.
But through the Millennium Villages Project (MVP), SADA is spearheading the construction of clinics, modern school, and water systems.
Joy News’ Albert Sore reports a modern school building with ancillary facilities has been put up at Kunkua in the Mamprugu Moaduri District, a place which hitherto lacks a befitting school.
The school, which formerly had a mass of untrained teachers, could boast of skilled teachers who are delivering the best form of education for the children.
District Director of Education, Abu Mohammed Baba, was full of praise for the new structure.
He says enrollment was very poor before the construction of the school but the situation has changed.
“This time, the classes are choked right from Kindergarten to Primary six,” he said, adding, SADA has given all the cluster schools all the teaching-learning materials that they need.”
The Authority has also put up a Millennium Clinic project to make healthcare accessibility less difficult for residents.
Prior to the construction of the clinic, the people had to travel to Walewale in the West Mamprusi District to access healthcare. The situation has improved.
Resident Nurse at the Kunkua Health Center, Malvet Appiah, says the Authority has helped the clinic improve its human resource.
The Health Center has midwives available to help pregnant mothers deliver safely and an ambulance system that has made reference and transferring of patients effectively.
However, there is no accommodation for some of the nurses. They are calling on the Authority to liaise with other organisations to help in that regard.
