A new tourism programme dubbed ‘Heritage Ghana’ has been launched and will air on GTV and Crystal TV in February 2012.The programme to be produced by Alban-ST Concepts, a private media production is in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority and is geared towards promoting domestic tourism and also to imbibe the acts of travelling among Ghanaians.Candy Mary Bell of Alban-St CONCEPTS in outlining the mission for the project said, the project will compliment the Ghana Tourism Authority’s effort to promote domestic tourism and also bring Ghana’s wonderful tourism attractions and heritage to the door steps of Ghanaians.She stressed that, the program will be aired on National television, GTV and Crystal TV come February 2012.She said it will be fourteen weeks of thrilling and exciting coverage of Ghana’s tourism per season. She indicated the Company, as part of the project, would also institute a scholarship scheme in every district.
The chairman of the occasion, Mr. Nkunu Akyea, tasked Ghanaians to be proud of their rich heritage and said Ghana was among the few countries that has unique cultural traits.He pointed out that the proverbial Ghanaian hospitality made Ghana stand tall among its competitors.On his part, the acting deputy executive director for Finance and Administration at the Tourism Authority, Mr. Samsom Donkor assured the organizers and the public that, the Authority will do its best to sustain such a wonderful program and commended the organizer s for coming up with such initiative.There were solidarity messages from the Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited, Mrs. Doreen Owusu-Fianko, ace Ghanaian Musician Bessa Simmons and Legal practitioner Nana Asante Bediatou who all happened to be patrons for the Heritage TV show.The organizers selected 24 district capitals where the show will start from through a ballot.www.ghana.travel
