The University of Cape Coast (UCC) is extending its tentacles, making strides to ensure education is accessible through the establishment of an e-campus, set to bring quality higher education closer to people who are seeking it.

The e-campus is a collaborative venture between the University of Cape Coast and AstriaLearning, an EdTech company, committed to empowering institutions across the world to deliver accessible, high-quality digital learning experiences.
During the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two institutions, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AstriaLearning, Mr. Jeff Bordes, emphasised that the partnership is designed to transform traditional learning methods through the launch of a fully supported digital campus.

He stated, "Through this partnership with AstriaLearning, we are launching a fully supported digital campus that extends UCC's accredited programmes beyond physical walls, beyond Ghana. This is not just education in the traditional sense. It is a structured, technology-enabled academic ecosystem built with governance, accountability, and student support at its core. It allows professionals to advance without stepping away from their career.”

As the demand for advance education in the country continues to soar, the new e-campus is a strategic decision expected to expand access to excellence, strengthen Ghana's professional workforce, and position the University as a regional platform for opportunity.
Mr Bordes further noted that expanding access to education plays a crucial role in poverty eradication, and in building a more innovative country.
He said, “We believe education is not simple, is not about personal credentials. It is an economic infrastructure. Global evidence consistently shows that each additional year of schooling increases earnings by 8 to 10 percent. That translates into a strong household, stronger institutions, and stronger national productivity.

Education strengthens health outcomes, reduces poverty, and enforces resilience. A more educated Ghana is a more innovative, more competitive country, better prepared to lead the region.”
Following Times World Higher Education Rankings released last year, the University of Cape Coast is making feat to live up to its recognition. The new e-campus will not only solidify the university's positions as number one (1) in Ghana and West Africa, and eleven (11) in Africa, but will mark the beginning of a bold and forward-looking embodiment of a transformative vision for the future of higher education in Ghana and beyond.
While highlighting the significance of the collaboration, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Prof. Denis Worlanyo Aheto, stated that the initiative will propel the university into a new era of digital innovation. According to him, this will broaden access to quality higher education.

“In every perspective, this partnership represents a strategically sound and forward-thinking opportunity for the University of Cape Coast. As we append our signatures to this agreement, we do so with confidence and optimism.
This initiative will usher our university into a new era of digital innovation, broaden access to quality education, and reinforce our standing as a leader in higher learning across Africa. UCC has long distinguished itself as a pioneer in distance education. As the leading university in Ghana and West Africa, we are uniquely positioned to extend our reach academically to students worldwide through this digital platform.”
The partnership between the university and Astria Learning aims to enroll the first cohort of students in August 2026 and will scale progressively 10,000 active learners annually.
