The elected member of parliament for the New Edubiase Constituency, Adams Abdul Salam, has prioritized the construction of the New Edubiase Stadium when he resumes work in the 8th Parliament.
Construction of the Stadium, started under the previous NDC government, stalled when the NPP took power in 2017, for lack of funds.
Adams Abdul Salam wants to see the project completed.
“We in the NDC have said we reject the results of the Presidential election and we are contesting it but if things remain the same, that will mean my party will not run government but I’ll still push in Parliament for the government to complete the stadium project because it’s dear to the residents of New Edubiase,” he told David Akuetteh on “Luv in the Morning” show on Luv Fm.
The MP-elect said the game of football is a passion of the people of New Edubiase, who desire to see their beloved club, New Edubiase FC, play in the stadium.
Adams Abdul Salam also believes completing the stadium will help improve the business climate in the area.
Other needs of the constituents, according to the MP-elect, include improved road networks and educational infrastructure.
He wants to meet these needs to retain the seat for the NDC in the 2024 election.
In the 2020 parliamentary election, Adams Abdul Salam beat incumbent George Oduro of the NPP who is also the Deputy Minister of Agriculture.
Adams polled 19,961 representing 52.38% of valid votes cast, whilst the incumbent and closest contestant, George Oduro got 17,913 representing 47% of valid votes cast.
George Oduro won the seat for the NPP for the first time in 2016 but failed to retain it in the 2020 election.
