Former President John Agyekum Kufuor Sunday urged Ghanaians to adopt simple but healthy lifestyles to prevent ailments that would otherwise raise their health bills needlessly. He said good health has very little to do with one’s wealth, and particularly for the needy, simple steps such as observing good hygiene and washing the hands with soap must be a daily principle. The former president was addressing thousands of porters and street children at the annual Joy FM Easter Soup Kitchen at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park in Accra. The former president’s foundations, The John Agyekum Kufuor Foundation for Effective Leadership, Democratic Governance and Sustainable Development and the JAK Foundation Healthy Secrets Club are among several sponsors of the event. He expressed gratitude to the organisers, Joy 99.7FM for the relief the Easter Soup Kitchen brings to the poor, observing that it is destined to be a great event even if it has had modest beginnings. The former President also urged effective collaboration to provide sustainable solutions to societal problems, pledging his Foundation's continuous support for the programme and other such initiatives. He said a healthy society is a great foundation for a nation's future and called on others to initiate similar programmes to help build a united nation. The Joy FM Easter Soup Kitchen fetes thousands of porters and the homeless sumptuous meals, drinks as well as provide them medical care. The former president who said he was just out of hospital, interacted with the revelers and volunteers. See photos in our galleries
