A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Empowerment Playground has donated some educational materials to the Bomigo School in the Volta Region to aid teaching and learning.
The items donated include a modern chargeable lantern, mary-go-round playing equipment, reusable sanitary pads for girls, long boots, nose masks, books and many other learning materials.
Bomigo School is located on an island in the Anloga District that can only be accessed by boat. Due to this, the school has neither received the needed learning materials nor a major facelift since its inception in 1956.

According to the leader of the group, Mr Issac Darlo Mensah, after noticing the challenges the school faces, the NGO decided to intervene.
"We were in the school and saw the deplorable nature and so decided to come to their aid. We are looking at our future journalists, teachers, lawyers etc here in the Bomigo Basic School and so they must have the best facilities to help them study," he said.
The items sponsored by one Thompson family in Spain came at the cost of GH¢75,000.
Chairman of the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) Mr. Atsu Giddson Kumornu received the donation on behalf of the school.
He together with Mr Joy Kumanyenu, the Human Resource manager of the assembly, pledged their commitment to ensuring that things take a positive turn in the community.
Meanwhile, the Headmaster of Bomigo school, Worlanyo Awuku Benjamin, has appealed to the government and philanthropies to help the school with infrastructure to enable teaching and learning.
