The Mankrado of Awutu Traditional Area, Nai Kow Kurabi Clottey III, has praised the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) for instituting effective measures to settle outstanding bills of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Mutual Health Insurance Schemes. He said continued prompt settlement of claims would go a long way to sustain the trust and confidence service providers have reposed in the system and also to create excellent image for the government. Mankrado Clottey III added that the prompt payment of bills would also assist in maintaining the interest of most Ghanaians, particularly the poor and other vulnerable citizens had in the new health delivery policy. He was interacting with Public Relations workers of the Awutu Effutu Senya District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme (DMHIS) at Awutu-Beraku on Thursday. The Mankrado described the NHIS as the best public health delivery system the nation had ever established, and advised Ghanaians not to play politics with it but rather make it a point to contribute individually and collectively to make it successful. He revealed that a private medical practitioner advised NHIA employers to always place the interest of the nation first in all their dealings so as to avoid temptations. Mankrado Clottey III reminded the workers of the great task that had been placed on their shoulders, adding they must be prayerful at all times in order to attract God's guidance for effective discharge of their duties. He was optimistic that plans put in place by the new Chief Executive Officer of the NHIA, Mr Sylvester Mensah, and his team would continue to witness meaningful improvements and changes in the coming years.
