Joy FM’s Upper West Regional Correspondent, Rafik Salam, reports that combined military and police patrols around the office complex of the municipal health insurance have intensified since the security agencies intercepted information that plans were afoot to lock up the NHIS offices there. According to Rafik, some supporters of the NDC in the region say they have temporarily suspended their plans to lock up the offices pending the outcome of discussions with the powers that be to dismiss all scheme managers in the region. The footsoldiers maintain that if the appointing authprity fail to sack the municipal and district scheme managers, they will resort to locking out the managers. The Wa Municipal NHIS Manager has appealed to the foot-soldiers to engage in dialogue to resolve whatever concerns they may have about the management of the scheme. He said work is still ongoing despite the threats. Source: Joy News/Ghana
