The National Health Insurance branch of the Union of Industrial, Commercial and Finance workers (UNICOF) has made a U-turn, withdrawing their complaint of wrongful termination of appointment of their colleague as well as their threat to embark on a nationwide strike action if the decision is not reversed.
Their withdrawal comes after the Council of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) released a statement on Monday outlining steps it has taken to ensure an amicable solution to the impasse between UNICOF and the management of the Authority with respect to the termination of the appointment of the secretary of the Local Union, Kinsley Kwabena Bobie.
The Council directed that the termination of the appointment of the secretary to the Local Union be reversed following which he will be placed on interdiction pending further investigations.
In a letter signed by the General Secretary of UNICOF, Mr Kofi Davoh urged staff of the NHIA to put on hold the planned nationwide strike since it has received some communication from the Council of the NHIA to reverse the decision and set a disciplinary process in motion by placing Mr. Bobie on interdiction for further investigations.
It also stated that it has withdrawn its attempt to remove the Chief Executive Officer of NHIA, Mr Sylvester Mensah.
