The Nima branch of Intercontinental Bank was last night spared destruction in a fire outbreak that razed down some houses within its vicinity.
It took fire fighters supported by five fire tenders, close to three hours, to stop the inferno from consuming the bank located at the Nima roundabout.
The cause of the fire is not immediately known but witnesses attributed it to power fluctuations.
A fire officer within the vicinity, Dora Kwarfo told journalists many more houses would have been destroyed but for the swift intervention of fire officials.
She said officials of the fire service have begun investigations into the incident.
