Major Derek Oduro (Rtd), Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkoranza North, appealed to traditional rulers, assembly and unit committee members to collaborate efforts to initiate pragmatic programmes towards the development of the area.
He called on the people to burry their differences and work for peace and stability to ensure the rapid development of the area.
Major Oduro, who made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana New Agency (GNA) at Nkoranza on Wednesday, urged religious leaders to pray for peace, unity and understanding among Ghanaians, as the 2008 Election drew closer.
He advised political parties to engage in clean electioneering campaign, devoid of insults, character assassination and provocations that could mar the election and the country's infant democracy.
Major Oduro said "Before the emergence of party politics in the country, the people lived together as one people and no one should do anything to mar the election, so that Ghana would continue to maintain the record worldwide that the people are mature in participatory democracy."
He commended President John Agyekum Kufuor and Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama for their hard work and dedicated services in leading the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government for nearly eight years.
The MP also praised the party hierarchy, delegates and supporters for organising a peaceful congress to elect the NPP flag bearer for the 2008 Election, in December last year.
