Black Stars new boy Edwin Gyasi does not regret turning down the chance to represent Netherlands, insisting he always wanted to play for Ghana.

Gyasi, born in Netherlands to Ghanaian parents, was approached by the Royal Dutch Football Association to represent the Flying Dutchmen, but he turned down the opportunity and instead opted to feature for the Black Stars.

And the 26-year old has made a blissful start to his international career, earning rave reviews from Ghanaians.

Last Sunday, he made his second appearance for Ghana and delivered a stunning goal as the Black Stars were to a 1-1 stalemate by Egypt in a dead-rubber 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

The Norway-based winger restored parity for the Black Stars, three minutes after the Pharaohs had taken the lead through Mahmoud Shikabla.

Gyasi struck from outside the penalty area through a crowded Egyptian defence with his shot deflecting off Ali Gabr to beat goalkeeper Sheriff Ekramy in post for the Egyptians.

"When I scored I could not believe that I have scored. And after scoring I didn’t know where I was running to on the field.’’ Gyasi told the GNA Sports from his base in Norway.

"Scoring for Black Stars is the proudest moment. The crowd exploded and so I enjoyed it,’’

“it feels great” because everybody was happy for him including Coach Kwesi Appiah and his teammates even at club side.

"He (Appiah) told me he was proud of me and I should keep on with my best. And my teammates at my club text me that they were really happy for me.”

The nimble footed attacker added he is happy to be representing Ghana “I don’t regret choosing Ghana. I speak Twi. My parents are from Ghana and I also don’t feel like I’m Dutch, because I’m a Ghanaian.” He stated.

He made his debut appearance as a second-half substitute Ghana’s 2018 world cup qualifier game away to Congo Brazzaville in Congo.
