The National Petroleum Authority has rejected claims by NGO, Development Data that an Appeals Court has ordered a reduction in fuel prices. It follows yesterday’s rejection of a stay of execution of an earlier High Court ruling that the controversial ex-refinery levy on fuel prices are illegal and must be removed. The NGO which has been battling the NPA over the margins slapped on the price of fuel says the court had directed a reduction in the pump price as well as the payment into the Consolidated Fund, some Eight Hundred million Ghana Cedis that had accrued from the levy. But the NPA’s lawyer, Abdul Bassit says though the court did not grant its application for a stay of execution, it never gave such orders.
