NPP executives in the Ashanti Region are alleging their NDC counterparts are planning to plunge Kumasi into chaos over the election petition at the Supreme Court.
Regional Organizer of the opposition party, Kennedy Kankam, claims the ruling party has hired some miscreants from Accra and Tamale to terrorize residents and loot shops, beginning Wednesday.
He says information available to the NPP suggests over 100 strongly-built men are to be deployed to execute NDC’s agenda.
Mr. Kankam told Nhyira FM’s Dwaso Nsem local segment dubbed “Kroyimu Nsem” that secret meetings had taken place between NDC officials and the supposed thugs.
He linked the alleged planned action to reported pronouncement by Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, purporting to incite NPP youth to cause violence over the weekend.
Mr. Kankam indicates the matter has been reported to security authorities, and dares NDC Regional Chairman, Yaw Obimpeh, to deny the allegation.
Mr. Obimpeh has denied the allegations, describing it as baseless.
He wants the police to investigate the NPP’s allegation in view of its serious nature.
