Delegates of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) who will be voting in Saturday’s presidential election have been warned to avoid going to polling centres wearing party paraphernalia.
The Communications Director for the party, Kawku Kwarteng, has told Joy News that wearing party T-shirts would be against the party’s election regulations.
“No delegates or persons intending to be at voting centres should put on any NPP T-shirts or any party paraphernalia,” he said, and stressed “We expect people to go in their normal private clothing to cast their votes.”
He said voters are expected to leave the voting centres immediately after casting their votes and return at 3pm to witness the counting and to ensure that the election runs peacefully.
About 113,000 delegates are expected to cast their votes in the party’s first expanded delegates’ conference where election would be done simultaneously in all constituencies across the country.
The presidential election is being keenly contested by five aspirants. They are Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, MP Isaac Osei, Rev Kwame Koduah, Mr. Alan Kyerematen and Nana Akufo-Addo.
