The New Patriotic Party(NPP) says it has began sensitizing its communicators and executives on media commentary regarding the hearing of the Election Petition at the Supreme Court.
It is to specifically caution its communicators against making disparaging remarks about the Supreme Court judges hearing the Petition.
This follows the banning of its Deputy Communications Director, Sammy Awuku on Wednesday. Awuku is banned from attending the court proceedings after making unsavoury comments against the decision of the Judges.
National Organiser of the Opposition party, Moctar Bamba tells JOYNEWS he is in Brong Ahafo to drum home this message.
“The case is in court and no one should sit on air and try to terrorise judges”, he warned.
“The Supreme Court has done a yeoman’s job” in sanctioning contemptuous comments, the NPP man commended.
He said the party is ready to sanction anyone who finds himself guilty of any more unsavoury remarks.
The Supreme Court has this week taken steps to deal with political commentators who,by their comments, undermine the decisions of the court.
The latest to be put on Presiding judge Justice William Atuguba's wanted list are Stephen Atubiga, Kwaku Boahen, both of the NDC and Ken Kuranchie, Managing Editor of the Daily Searchlight newspaper.
They are to appear before the Supreme Court on Tuesday 2nd July 2013.
