Mr Alhassan Samari, Upper East Regional Minister was at the weekend unanimously elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Garu-Tempane constituency for the 2008 general elections.
Mr Sabastian Tibil Bisnab, Talensi-Nabdam District Chief Executive was also unanimously elected as the Party's candidate for the Nabdam constituency.
The elections supervised by officials of Electoral Commission, elected Mr Adamu Dramani, as the candidate for Bawku Central constituency when he polled 51 votes to beat Alhaji Awudu Yerimeah, former Deputy Upper East Regional Minister who had 29 votes.
Mr Francis Akurugu Asampana, Bongo District Chief Executive polled 58 votes to be elected as the candidate for Bongo constituency as against 35 votes by his opponent Mr Victor Amoah.
Nana Ohene Ntow, General Secretary of NPP, said the election of Mr Samari was ideal because he had vast experience and expertise to ensure development in the Garu-Tempane constituency.
He appealed to the people to offer the needed support to the elected candidates to win their seats.
Nana Ntow noted that the Party won only two out of the 13 seats in the region due to intimidation and assured the people that such intimidation would not happen in 2008 and urged them to vote massively for the Party.
Mr Samari had earlier paid a courtesy call on Naba Awuni Akotem, Paramount Chief of Garu-Tempane Traditional Area, who pledged to give him the maximum support to run affairs in the region.
He appealed for cooperation from the people to develop the area, adding, “I believe in the concept of a team player. I need your support to develop the region".
Mr Emmanuel Asigri, Garu-Tempane District Chief Executive appealed to chiefs and elders, opinion leaders and the youth to rally behind Mr Samari for more development in the area.
