The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for lacking “the political will" to complete the unfinished Youth Resource Centers across the country.
The NPP initiated the construction of 10 multipurpose projects under then Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah in 2018.
Six years later, only the Koforidua facility has been completed and commissioned, while the others remain abandoned.
Current Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif has admitted facing financial challenges "with regards to payments" needed for work to continue.
“If you have a political will, there’s a way. NPP does not have the political will to complete Youth Resource Centers," said Member of NDC's Sports Committee Edem Agbana in an interview with Joy Sports.
“I am giving you my firmest assurance that we will make sure that every single sports facility that the NPP government has initiated across the regions, we will complete those projects because they must be completed.”
