A founding member of the opposition New Patriotic Party, George Ayisi-Boateng, is predicting doom for the party if immediate steps are not taken to address emerging factionalism between supporters of Nana Akufo-Addo and Alan Kyerematen.
According to him, the party would have to forget about recapturing power in 2012 with its internal wrangling.
He stressed that there is the urgent need for party leaders to unite and better position the NPP to forge ahead. He particularly wants the two personalities to show more commitment to party cohesion.
Mr Ayisi-Boateng was speaking to Nhyira FM’s Dwaso Nsem programme host, Kofi Asante Ennin over reports of Nana Addo’s rejection of Alan as running mate for the 2012 election.
He emphasized that the party is likely to lose its democratic record if authorities do not ensure that the situation, which he described as unfortunate, is controlled.
He added that discipline must prevail within the party to fight a common cause.
