The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will on Sunday launch its 2016 manifesto at the Ghana International Trade Fair Center in Accra.

The ceremony will be in two folds namely a closed door stakeholder briefing of the manifesto to Civil Society and Identifiable Groups, Embassies and Diplomatic Missions and Political Parties at the Unique Events Palace and a mammoth rally attended by thousands of party faithful.

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor is expected to chair the function which would be attended by founding fathers of the party and former Ministers.

The event was slated to take place at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) but a statement from the party few hours to the ceremony said it has been moved to the Trade Fair Center, though it did not spells out the reasons.

The NPP flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo supported by his running mate, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia will throw light on his ideas to transform Ghana and improve the lot of Ghanaians.

“The launch of the manifesto, which contains the solutions Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the party propose to help fix the myriad of problems facing the country, including how to resolve the unemployment problem among young Ghanaians, will be held at the forecourt of the Accra International Trade Fair Centre,” the party's statement said.

After the manifesto launch, the NPP will join the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and the All People’s Congress (APC) who have made public their manifestoes with 58 days to the December elections.

This year's presidential race might be contested by 17 candidates if the Electoral Commission (EC) does not disqualify any of them as happened in the 2012 election when some political parties were disqualified for failing to do due diligence to their nomination forms. The parties were the National Democratic Party (NDP), New Vision Party (NVP), Ghana Freedom Party (GFP),  Independent People’s Party (IPP), YES People’s Party and the Democratic Freedom Party.

Commenting on the manifesto ahead of the launch, NPP Deputy General Secretary, Nana Obiri Boahene told Joy News the content of the document is a masterpiece, unparalleled in the history of the country.

He said although Ghana has been endowed with rich resources, it lacks the right and competent leader to walk the citizens into the land of prosperity. He believes President John Mahama has been unable to deliver this in spite of the very good marks the President had scored his performance.

"We need leaders who are not corrupt; the ones will not engage GYEEDA, SADA SUBAH," MR Boahene had said.

He said the teeming Ghanaian youth who are getting unemployed by the day would all find something worthwhile to do if the NPP is given the mandate in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary polls.
