The National Youth Organisers of the opposition NPP and the ruling NDC have described it as unfortunate, the decision by the Vice Chancellor of the Catholic University Prof. James Ephraim to ban students’ politics on the school’s campuses.
Anthony Abayefa Karbo who represents the NPP told Adom News in an interview that, the Vice Chancellor does not understand the concept of political party movements created on campuses.
He explained that the various political groupings on campuses have served as the breeding grounds for political stalwarts in this country.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the Catholic University Prof. James Ephraim directed students who wish to engage in political groupings to go to youth wing in their communities for political activities.
He said Political science students can go to their various political parties and their youth wings for their practical attachment.
He said the school will not allow its grounds to be used as political theatre by political parties through their various political movements such as TESCON and TEIN.
But, the National Youth Organiser of the ruling National Democratic Congress, Mr. Ludwig Hlordze has called on the Vice Chancellor to rather institute a code of conduct for the students to engage in politics and not an outright ban of politics on campuses.
He said the school must rather guide the students to understand the tenet of the country’s democracy and not to ban it completely.
